Jones Tones students have numerous opportunities to perform, compete and share their music with others!

Here are just a few! All opportunities are optional except studio recitals.

Jones Tones Halloween Party

A fun-filled time after school for students to play a Halloween or piano piece of their choosing for each other. Of course, costumes are always encouraged! After the mini-recital, we play music games and have a snack. A great way for new students to start gaining confidence in performing for the first time.

NAMTA Sonata/Sonatina Celebration

Students prepare any sonata or sonatina to play by memory before a judge and a small group of other students in or around their same grade in school. The judge assesses their performance, rates them, and writes comments. Points, ribbons, and medals are awarded. Points are cumulative from year to year and students who do well can earn a trophy within three years. There are no winners. This is usually held at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville each November.

Jones Tones Holiday Recital

It doesn’t get much better than holiday, winter, and Christmas music! A favorite for studio families, students usually perform one or two solos pieces and sometimes duets as well. It truly feels like the most wonderful time of the year!

ASMTA Spring Competition

Students perform two pieces from ASMTA’s extensive curriculum guide before a judge. Students also take a musicianship test (scales, ear training, and sight reading) in addition to a written theory exam for their level. Winners are invited to compete at the Arkansas state auditions, with winners playing in the honors recital.

This student received 1st Alternate in her division in spring of 2021.

Jones Tones Spring Recital

Our final performance of the year is our spring recital where students showcase what they have learned second semester. This recital usually has a common theme. This is also a time for students to perform a popular and/or current hit as well.

Sharing and Caring

In a Pre-COVID time, small groups of students would go to nursing homes, assisted living, and rehabilitation centers in our area and play for the residents. It was always a treat for the residents to see and hear the students share the gift of music. We hope to be able to do this again soon!
